I reviewed San Juan Public Beach in La Union on Luzon Island so you can decide if it is worth it.
To find this place, type "San Juan Public Beach, La Union, Luzon" into Google Maps.
This beach has no entry fee; you can rent a purok for 500 PHP.
If you are here in the season, this beach is suitable for surfing. Several places rent surfboards and offer surfing lessons.
As we can see, no local vendors are on the beach, leaving the restaurant the only viable option. Unfortunately, that was already packed full, with 50+ people waiting for a table.
Jessa and I had to leave without trying to swim or even have a meal. The sand was too warm for us to go there, and the restaurant was way too packed, and eating there would have taken half a day.
On the good side, it is one of the cleanest beaches in the Philippines.
The beach itself was great. It was a bit of a letdown that there were not more local vendors there, leaving only the restaurant for snacks and beer. The dice would be higher if they would get local vendors into the beach area.
I hope you enjoy the video.
